    The barbell squat

A description of the differences in bar positioning for a squat, by Mark Rippetoe in his book “Starting Strength”. At CrossFit Power Factory, we teach the high bar back squat instead of the low bar back squat. We believe that the vertical torso and hip flexibility required in the high bar- and the front squat position correlate to a better execution of the Olympic lifts (snatch and clean & jerk). However, no matter which bar position you adopt, the same pointers always remain: stay tight, keep your chest up, get low, and push your knees out!
